Jim Edmonds Retired

Oh no way! The Cardinals just signed Edmonds! Isn’t he 40 now and has been hurt constantly for the last two years? Well he could help be a leader and a left-handed bat off the…oh wait. He just retired…never mind! With the weather being as nice as it is, everyone rock the half-shirt on Saturday in honor of Edmonds…it’s either that or go to his restaurant, but its a little expensive and a lot douchey. Albert Pujols Invalidates Your Death

Four mentions of the Pujols contract dominate the home page, while 3 other stories about crime and death sink to the bottom like the boring crap news they are. Oh you died today and you want people to recognize it or something? Should have thought about that before you up and died on “contract deadline day”! [Read More]

Kyle Lohse Has a New Tattoo

Cardinals starting pitcher Kyle Lohse arrived at Spring Training the other day sporting some new ink. Let us guess! Some sort of baseball that’s flying so fast the cover is coming off of it? Ding! Ding! Ding! How’d we guess?! Oh yeah, every pitcher that thinks tats are a good idea get something about a ball’s cover coming off. They must be big fans of The Sandlot or something. Lohse has a scar the length of his forearm curving from his elbow toward his wrist. [Read More]

Mark Buehrle Really Doesn’t Like Michael Vick

Native St. Louisan and Chicago White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle really likes dogs. In fact, Buehrle made news in December when his wife found a dog walking around St. Louis with an arrow sticking out of it and donated money to pay for the dog’s medical bills as well as found the dog a home. No word on if the dog has a comical water stream shoot out of his side when he drinks water, but it’s still a good story and makes Mark Buehrle seem like a really nice guy that cares. [Read More]

Steven Jackson’s Wild Super Bowl Limo Ride

Like many NFL stars, St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson grabbed a flight down to Dallas to join in the Super Bowl fun. Early on Super Bowl Sunday, Jackson was scheduled to attend the ESPN tailgate party, so he took a limo from the hotel and the limo, in turn, took SJ39 on a little pre-party adventure. Luckily, he’s a prolific tweeter with a strong 3G connection, so we all got to ride shotgun on the crazy limo ride, which did, eventually, end with Jackson and company getting to the appearance safely. Cardinals Sign Jim Edmonds…Wait What?!

MLB Trade Rumors is reporting that the Cardinals…our Cardinals, the St. Louis Cardinals, have signed Jim Edmonds. The same one as before. Not one from a time machine, the one from this year, the one that was about to retire like a week ago. It appeared likely that Edmonds would retire last weekend, but the 40-year-old is returning for an 18th season in the major leagues. Eight of those seasons came in St. [Read More]

Jay Mohr Says Pujols is Worth It…and Agrees that Jason Barrett is Creepy

In this clip from 101ESPN (WXOS)’s Superbowl media coverage, Bob Stelton interviews Jay Mohr and just before Stelton does the most obvious thing ever and asks Morh to do his Christopher Walken impression for the 23 Millionth time, Mohr gives the Cardinals some advice: Mohr: [Thankfully interrupting Stelton from whatever boring thing he was saying…] Are they going to pay Pujols? Stelton: Yes they are. Mohr: They have to. [Read More]

Brad Penny Was Totally Going to Pitch For the Cardinals in the Playoffs, but Well, You Know

Former Cardinal and perma-injured starting pitcher Brad Penny has been 20 times more interesting this off-season that he was in his official time as a Cardinal. To review, Penny signed with the Cardinals and pitched nine games all season. He hit a grad slam in that ninth game and never came back. Brillant! It’s a theatre technique called a “black out”. Look it up. Since the season’s conclusion, Penny has filled his time by whining on Twitter and getting dumped on by everyone. [Read More]

Comparing Our LaRussa Roast to the Actual One

About a month ago the roast of long-time Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa was announced and, shockingly, our name was left off the guest list! We roasted him anyway. Go internet! The actual roast took place last weekend though at the Annual Dinner of the St. Louis Chapter of Baseball Writers’ Association of America though you may know them as SLCOBWAOA. The “roaster roster” included Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland, broadcaster Mike Shannon, Fox2’s Martin Kilcoyne, actor Billy Bob Thornton, famed college basketball coach Bobby Knight, and former Cardinal Steve Kline.
