PUNCHING KITTY: 2009 - 2013

Punching Kitty was a writing project for the city of St. Louis to have a little fun and try to get everyone to stop taking themselves so seriously…and hopefully highlight some critical issues along the way. Not everyone liked it (it turns out people don’t love being made fun of) but we converted a lot of people and I take pride that the site was truly well read. From the local media, to area police departments, Punching Kitty truly became a source for news and entertainment for St. Louis.

We had a lot of fun, but all good things need an ending and ours was on March 13th, 2013. When we closed up shop the news made local radio, TV, and even the front page of STLToday (The St. Louis Post Dispatch’s website) where we were the top story over a new pope being named. Wild stuff.

While we will no longer actively write, the site will stay up as an archive for St. Louis.

St. Louis Sex Blogger, The Beautiful Kind, Bears All

The native St. Louis sex blogger, The Beautiful Kind, has had a busy year. She’s disappeared, reappeared, and written a book already. What does an anonymous sex blogger do for an encore? Bleached butthole? One of those giant plastic fists? In the ear? Nope. Instead she decided to expose the one thing she hasn’t already put out there: Her name. My name is Kendra Holliday, and I am The Beautiful Kind. [Read More]

The Lions Pounced on the Rams and Ate Their Face

The Lions didn’t just beat our St. Louis Rams Sunday afternoon, they destroyed them, dropping their largest point total on an opponent in over 15 years. The Lions bent over the Rams and just went to town, causing Detroit wide receiver Nate Burleson to have to take a break from banging us because he balls were apparently on fire (above). So much for all that “We might make the playoffs! [Read More]

Love Lost and Found in St. Louis

From time to time we like to dip in to the ole Missed Connections section in St. Louis’ own Craigslist. Why? Because these things are crazy stupid. Like KSDK airing a show about Cardinals highlights Thursday night during prime-time stupid. Denny’s South county (southcounty) Attractive blonde sitting with I assume was her husband, couldnt keep from looking at you, very sexy. Nothing like spending your dinner trying to avoid eye-contact from the creepy guy a few tables away that clearly never did get the hint to make Denny’s somehow suck even more. [Read More]

St. Louis to Hold Satellite Rally to Restore Sanity

The Daily Show host John Stewart’s rally to combat the rising insanity on either side of the political bickering has a lot of people heading to Washington D.C. October 30th to witness an event so sane and even-keled, it will make you say “Hmm. Interesting. I’m going to think about that and get back to you with a well-thought out response.” Because we’re looking for those people. We’re looking for the people who think shouting is annoying, counterproductive, and terrible for your throat; who feel that the loudest voices shouldn’t be the only ones that get heard; and who believe that the only time it’s appropriate to draw a Hitler mustache on someone is when that person is actually Hitler. Another day in St. Louis… A man runs his car in to a parked car, through a fence and in to the side of a family’s home Tuesday night. JC Corcoran Joins KTRS, Bumps Charles Jaco

After a year of being off the St. Louis airwaves, friend-of-the-site J.C. Corcoran, is returning to local radio. KTRS, in the midst of a major overhaul after losing the Cardinals, has hired Corcoran to fill the mid-day 10a-1p slot. John Brown‘s show the Mindset (which we were a guest on earlier this year) has been moved back to a 1p – 3p slot. But what of Charles Jaco? KTVI reporter, writer of accusatory emails and current KTRS radio host? [Read More]

Later today at Lamber Airport, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA or “Those Rude People That Make You Actually Consider Not Showing Up For Your Vacation When You See the Security Line” to the rest of us) will hold a press conference announcing the introduction of “full body” scanners to the Lambert security checkpoints.
