Punching Kitty was a writing project for the city of St. Louis to have a little fun and try to get everyone to stop taking themselves so seriously…and hopefully highlight some critical issues along the way. Not everyone liked it (it turns out people don’t love being made fun of) but we converted a lot of people and I take pride that the site was truly well read. From the local media, to area police departments, Punching Kitty truly became a source for news and entertainment for St. Louis.
We had a lot of fun, but all good things need an ending and ours was on March 13th, 2013. When we closed up shop the news made local radio, TV, and even the front page of STLToday (The St. Louis Post Dispatch’s website) where we were the top story over a new pope being named. Wild stuff.
While we will no longer actively write, the site will stay up as an archive for St. Louis.

Easily the #1 complaint we have heard about the All Star game, well after the whole booing thing, was the fact that after spending weeks telling everyone that they would finally honor the man that is the invisible baseball great, Stan Musial, all the Cardinals did was wheel his old ass on there on a cart and let him hand a ball to the President.

…kinda. You can smoke inside, if you operate a cigar bar or tobacco shop, or are in one of the 20% of hotel rooms that can still allow it, and of course patios.

The African-American Business and Contractors Association (which I think spells out L.O.N.G.A.C.R.O.N.Y.M.) is upset because they believe there were not enough black contractors hired in the massive highway 70 project, so they planned to “shut down” the highway Monday during evening rush hour, which is 10 years to the day to a similar protest.
First let me say this: If the Aferican-American Business…(whatever)’s claims are correct and there was any prejudice at play when the contractors for the Hwy 70 project were picked (or for any job for that matter) then I’m with them in saying that is f*cked.
Now let me say this: This is the dumbest protest I’ve ever seen. Look at the video below, two cars stopped at the same time on 70 during rush hour. Wow. Shocking. I thought protests were supposed to be something crazy that I normally wouldn’t do to get my attention, like chaining myself to something or standing in front of a tank. Two cars stopping at the same time on the highway happens about 4 times a day when someone gets in an accident or just some retard stops their car because they saw something shiny. Also, this is pretty dicky. You want to picket a building? Fine, at least you are only bothering the people in the building that you think wronged you. Backing up traffic during rush-hour when people that did nothing wrong just want to go home? Dude. Screw you.
I also love their promise that there is “much more to come” I’m guessing the next stop in your annoying people that didn’t do anything campaign, is just going to a mall food court and knocking people’s drinks out of their hand. That’ll teach them.

It gets a little harder to brush off your mom’s pro-county arguments when her very own town and the place you grew up grabs the number 9 spot on CNN’s list of the top places to live in America.
Sigh.
Created 40 years ago as a resort community, this friendly town outside St. Louis has two man-made lakes, plus five parks, three golf courses, and a 650-horse equestrian center. But the place was soon colonized by full-time residents with children, drawn by the myriad activities and low crime.

Not because I don’t think its true, I think the average St. Louis Cardinals fan has got to be right up there in the argument to who is the best, most intelligent fans. No, I think we should cut the “Greatest Fans” thing because the weight of living up of that is apparently weighing on some so much that they have had the fun squeezed right out of them.
