PUNCHING KITTY

The recently redesigned and relaunched website for St. Louis’ Fox affiliate on channel 2 just went live with a new domain: fox2now.com.  Abandoning the fairly recent Fox-wide “MyFox[insert city abbreviation].com” push already is a bit of a mystery to most, but the issue is fairly clear after a quick twitter search:

PunchingKitty.com was just launched on the 19th, but I’ve been working at night to get some cool stuff out so that you can help add awesome stuff you find around the city and add it up here really easily and almost instantaneously. Here’s what I got:

1. PunchingKitty “tips”:

We already have the email of tips[at]punchingkitty[dot]com set up and if you want to do more, you can sign up for an account and submit a full fledged story, but I felt like something you can do anywhere would be a great addition, so starting last night, you can now Twitter a tip to us by simply including #pktip in the body of your tweet.  The site will find them and post the newest one on the front page!  So…if you see Virginia Kerr doing a line off a male stripper’s ass and that male stripper turns out to be Larry Conors, get on your phone or to the nearest computer and send us that tip!

Sexy sexy sexy.  Thats the best way to describe the crowd that Metromix found at St. Louis’ first Inaugural Ball.

According to STLMedia.net, heads might be rolling at KSDK after Gannett tried and failed to force a week long, un-paid, vacation for its employees.  The word is, the lay offs could come as soon as next week.  

If “famous” heads are getting lopped off from media companies, couldn’t we at least turn this in to some fun for someone?  What if KSDK said, Survivor style, that the following people were up for “elimination” and then we get the vote to see who gets the axe?!  

Everyone knows that St. Louis has a time machine and has found a way to predict out the next 4 to 8 years.  The results of their epic quest?  Obama will be the best black president USA has ever had!  So we’re naming a street after him!  Boosh!

But I say, why stop there?  There’s all kinds of other street blocks that could use some fancying up!  Here’s a few that we at PunchingKitty.com are pulling for:

“Ugly Friend” (noun):

the friend of the hot girl who is never chosen first. She is always left alone and is very angry about it. When given the choice between the 2 the guys always chose the prettier friend and leave the ugly big nosed one out of the cold.   

You literally have to beg guys to touch the girl to give her a pity screw.

So I guess Elizabeth Alexander’s inaugural poem has been getting panned by people in poetry circles.  For instance, in an article on guardian.co.uk, Carol Rumens said that “Elizabeth Alexander’s praise poem was way too prosy”  You bitch!  Eh…I guess…is that what the poetry circle calls getting “panned,” or being, as STLToday.com called it, “harsh?”

STLToday.com’s Book Blog had more on this issue though, when they called on River Styx editor Richard Newman on what his thoughts on Tuesday’s most famous poem.  What follows is a long meandering quote from Newman that I will now translate for you:

Washed-up kids science show host and recurring guest “star” on CBS’ drama Numb3rs Bill Nye is coming to speak at St. Louis University at the Busch Student Center building on February 16th.  

The topic of his talk will be “More with Less: How Saint Louis University Students are Going to Change the World.”  See the brilliance of it is putting the school he happens to be at is right in the title of the speech!  This can’t fail.  On a related note, I’ve heard from several rock groups that St. Louis is “the rockin’-est city in the world!”
