Punching Kitty was a writing project for the city of St. Louis to have a little fun and try to get everyone to stop taking themselves so seriously…and hopefully highlight some critical issues along the way. Not everyone liked it (it turns out people don’t love being made fun of) but we converted a lot of people and I take pride that the site was truly well read. From the local media, to area police departments, Punching Kitty truly became a source for news and entertainment for St. Louis.
We had a lot of fun, but all good things need an ending and ours was on March 13th, 2013. When we closed up shop the news made local radio, TV, and even the front page of STLToday (The St. Louis Post Dispatch’s website) where we were the top story over a new pope being named. Wild stuff.
While we will no longer actively write, the site will stay up as an archive for St. Louis.

After trading away pretty much all of their top-end young talent in deals for Mark DeRosa and Matt Holiday, the Cardinals needed to sign #1 pick, and hard-throwing Texas right-hander Shelby Miller.
Miller suddenly becomes the number one best pitching prospect in the Cardinals farm system.
After initially asking for 4 million to sign, Miller and the Cards settled in on 2.875 Million. Still a lot of money, but a lot better for the Cards than 4 mill!

Elizabeth A. Thrasher, 40, is accused of posting the listing after an online confrontation with the 17-year-old daughter of a woman Thrasher’s ex-husband was dating.

State Senator Jeff Smith appears to be on his way out of office one way or another, and soon.
For those unfamiliar, Democratic Senator Jeff Smith has held is seat for the 4th district since 2007 after teaching at Washington University and University of Missouri St. Louis. Smith lost his first political bid in 2004 after being narrowly defeated by Russ Carnahan in the primary for the U.S. House of Representatives. In 2007, he made it out of the primary scrum and went on to win his current seat uncontested in the general election.

It’s true, and we have to agree: The Sunday Cardinal games aired on KSDK (channel 5) are easily the worst out of the four broadcast entities that air Cardinals games. (The other three being, Fox, ESPN and of course Fox Sports Midwest)

You go in and site down on at the disgusting Eat-Rite counter in Downtown St. Louis and you amazingly survive the food, only to have someone shoot you when you leave.
Police say the woman, 30, got into an argument with a man inside The Eat-Rite Diner at Chouteau Avenue and 7th Street around 5:30 a.m. Sunday. Police say the man left, but returned a short time later with a gun and shot the woman as she stood outside the restaurant.

If you were wondering why the Rants and Raves section on the St. Louis corner of popular classifieds site Craigslist is filled with postings like: “Why do guys always look at by boobs”, “I Have An Assgasm When I Shove Cake Up My Ass” and “Posh and Donkey’s” its all cakelady’s fault!
Rants and raves used to be a halfway intelligent forum. Not anymore. Now all I see are racist rants (way to make St. Louis look even more backwoods) and that stupid fucking cakelady (whoever the hell he or she might be). Seriously, does this person have a life? His/her postings make me want to puke, and not just because of the picture. I want to contact the owners of Craigslist and get this waste of oxygen banned from the site. Free speech does have a downside, and cakelady is a perfect example.
