PUNCHING KITTY: 2009 - 2013

Punching Kitty was a writing project for the city of St. Louis to have a little fun and try to get everyone to stop taking themselves so seriously…and hopefully highlight some critical issues along the way. Not everyone liked it (it turns out people don’t love being made fun of) but we converted a lot of people and I take pride that the site was truly well read. From the local media, to area police departments, Punching Kitty truly became a source for news and entertainment for St. Louis.

We had a lot of fun, but all good things need an ending and ours was on March 13th, 2013. When we closed up shop the news made local radio, TV, and even the front page of STLToday (The St. Louis Post Dispatch’s website) where we were the top story over a new pope being named. Wild stuff.

While we will no longer actively write, the site will stay up as an archive for St. Louis.

Marshall Faulk Should Be In Charge of the Rams

The Rams suck.  You know it.  We know it. The Rams themselves?  Eh. Not so much.

Marshall Faulk knows it though. Faulk expressed his feelings in the Sporting News:

“[The Rams have] earned the No. 32 spot (the last spot in the league).  It’s well-deserved.  The Rams are more worried about firing their trainer and equipment manager than they are worried about the coaches responsible for the play on the field.  That says a lot.  When the first offseason move you make is to fire your trainer?  Perfect.”

Bryan Burwell Wants to Remind You That You Are Horrible People

Bryan Burwell wants you to leave professional athletes alone!  Why?  Because you “fans” are all horrible people! …I mean not all of you, but enough that he feels its ok to blame us all for the bad ones.

I have to laugh when I listen to or read the voice of the outraged fan who now believes that he is entitled to more out of Woods than he has already given. Entitlement doesn’t look good on anyone, and the truth is, too many fans are just as guilty nowadays as the players they often scold for the same behavior.

Sunset Hills is a Retard Factory

What the hell is going on in Sunset Hills?  Apparently the following things have happened there:

  1. Someone honked and someone else in the street.

“They didn’t see me coming, I honked my horn once for safety measures,” she said.

“There was a UPS truck was coming up the street at the same time.”

Wymer, a neo-natal nurse at Cardinal Glennon Hospital, said she was concerned about the daughter in the stroller. She said she honked once for only a few seconds. “They were so disturbed by the honk,” she said.

Hoes Be Trippin in the Loop Yesterday

Not sure if the sorta-thaw we had yesterday loosed up the frozen crazy, but in some crazy crap was going down in the Loop around lunch time.

First at the corner of Leland and Delmar we saw a 70+ year old woman land a punch on a van as it sped through the intersection.  I mean a punch too, nothing accidental.  A freaking punch.

Not more than an hour later, we saw a woman beat the living hell out of a “gentleman” over a video game.  After raining blows to the top of his head, ignoring his pleas to the contrary, she capped off the exhibition by hawking a little lung butter on the top of his head.

This Week in Duh: Living in St. Louis City is Unhealthy

Guess what?!  Another study came out saying that living in St. Louis city proper is a death wish!

Residents of St. Charles County have the best opportunities in Missouri to be healthy, while people who live in St. Louis city have the worst, according to a new report.

To compile the report, researchers looked at data from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Environmental Protection Agency, the FBI, the U.S. Census Bureau and other sources.

Former St. Louis Cop Sues Facebook

Bryan Pour, who probably had a pretty bitchin’ beer-drinkin nickname in college, was fired from his post as a St. Louis police officer after a brawl/shooting incident outside of a bar.  Pour also got a parting gift of a felony charge of aggravated battery with a firearm with the possibility of 30 years in the clink.

What does Facebook have to do with this?
