In a press release from Bonneville Radio (who locally owns 101 ESPN, WIL 92.3 and 106.5 The Arch), emphasis mine:
In response to sustained, slow economic indices and market conditions that are producing below-projected revenues industry-wide, Bonneville International today announced to its employees a series of cost-reducing measures designed to trim operating expenses while at the same time continuing to produce high-quality products for its audiences and clients. Among those measures implemented are salary reductions for its higher-paid employees, adjustments to vacation accruals and carryovers, elimination of company-participation health club memberships, and a reduction of holiday remembrances for employees.

Local ISP UVerse Blocking Access to 4Chan.org
According to both a TechCrunch report, and confirmations from local sources, it appears that AT&T’s internet service, dubbed “UVerse” is blocking access to one of the biggest, and craziest internet message boards 4Chan.org (specifically they are blocking access to img.4chan.org, where all the content is held) as of last night.
For those that don’t know, 4chan.org is the home base and originator of many of the web’s favorite memes like LOLCats and the infamous Rick Roll (our favorite meme to come out of 4chan is the lesser know “Zach Braff Quotes“) 4chan.

Tuesday night, while everyone was watching the National League lose for the 13th year in a row, Clayton’s government was at work banning smoking in all public places.
…kinda. You can smoke inside, if you operate a cigar bar or tobacco shop, or are in one of the 20% of hotel rooms that can still allow it, and of course patios.
…or actually its still cool if you are in any currently established public place until July, 1st 2010.

Post Dispatch Uncovers Towing Scandal During Mardi Gras
Over the past eight months, the Post-Dispatch has revealed controversial ties between the police department and St. Louis Metropolitan Towing: perks given to the police chief’s daughter, questionable tactics used to gouge vehicle owners and hundreds of thousands of dollars the company kept from taxpayers.
But the relationship proved most lucrative during one day each year: Mardi Gras’ major parade day.
That was from the article in the Post Dispatch about the apparently many-layered scheme that originated from recently ousted Police Chief Joe “I keep looking dirtier every day” Mokwa.

March 3rd Mayoral Primary Race Warming to Room Temperature
Driving around the other day I saw a “Reelect Slay” sign, which of course means its that time again! The Demacratic Mayoral Primary is on March 3rd and Slay squares off against former Alderman and former second-fiddle to Slay in the last election, Irene J. Smith….oh and some one else, but seriously…who cares? The fact I even know Smith is running is because of an article in the Post about how bad ass Mayor Slay is with his campaign and because “she” started following my personal Twitter account!

Mayor Slay Praises Reed For Red Light Camera Changes
Starting shortly after the bill reaches Mayor Slay’s desk, traffic lights that have red-light cameras will be required to have a sign at the intersection stating the cameras are in use there. Previously the signs were just posted at the border of the county or city where the cameras were used. Says the Mayor: [permalink]
