St. Louis is Manly

Some random site that reported that Mars (the candy company) said that St. Louis is the 6th manliest city, so it must be true. Web sites just don’t make things up for links you know?! …also did we mention that there is a secret Air Force base under the Edward Jones Done? The entrance is in the gift shop where no one would think to look.

Via the “Top 50 Manliest Cities” study, COMBOS® – the hearty, pretzel and cracker snack made with real cheese – examines what makes a city manly and ranks 50 major metropolitan areas using criteria such as number of professional sports teams, popularity of power tools and frequency of monster truck rallies. Cities also lose ranking points for emasculating characteristics like the abundance of home furnishing stores, high minivan sales and subscription rates to beauty magazines.

St. Louis was only topped by, in descending order: Nashville, Charlotte, Oklahoma City, Cincinnati, and Denver.

Other notable placements were Phoenix at #22, New Orleans at #27, Las Vegas at #28, Boston at #38, Chicago at #46 and New York coming in at the bottom-feeding, no-chest-hair-having #50.

So ladies from other parts of the country…look at your home town…now back to St. Louis…now back to your home town…now back here. The Arch is now diamonds. I’m on a Clydesdale.

Top Twenty Isn’t Bad: St. Louis Metro Ranked 18th in Population

In the last pseudo-official yearly tally before we get the numbers from the 2010 census form you are filling out as we speak, St. Louis clocked as the 18th most populated metro area. Just above Tampa, FL and just below San Diego, CA…two cities that we would rather be than here.

We thought this would be a good time to celebrate other 18′s like…

The 18th President, Ulysses S. Grant

The 18th Amendment, which of course started the prohibition.

The 18th letter of the alphabet: R.  Solid letter.

…

I was going to make this a list of 18, 18 things, but you know what…screw that, there’s porn to be watching.  Maybe I’ll watch 18 of those…with 27 year old girls they will say their only 18.  Works out perfectly.

Loud Guy is “Scared as Hell” to be Living in St. Louis

St. Louis is #3 on the most dangerous American cities list…again. Old news. We are always on there. We’re like that kid that wears the leather jacket no matter how hot it gets and uses a switch blade comb. We’re bad ass. We know it.

Well, I guess not everyone knows it. (Watch out people at work, this dude is loud!)

At the end of his little tirade, he shows the whole list. Note that if you think you are just having a stroke because you can’t seem to lock in and read the list very well, don’t worry. Its just because this genius though the best way to display the list is with black text on a bright red background…that blinks.

If you can keep it together to watch most of the list without stroking out, you’ll see that our retarded cross-state brother city we only visit once a year or because we find out he can count cards Kansas City came in at #6. Nice try KC. Still not impressed.

St. Louis is the 21st Craziest City

Everyone thinks their home town is the craziest.  ”Oh man.  Crazy times back then. You think this place is crazy?! Dude. Nothing like my town.” Wouldn’t it be fun if someone ruined all those arguments by making up random data points and then ranking the cities accordingly?

The Daily Beast did just that.  We didn’t win.

St. Louis came in at #21 with 20 psychiatrists per capita, a stress score* of 23, a 34 on eccentricity*, a drinking rating* of 22 and the following comment:

Despite Missouri’s generally lenient open-container laws (read: there aren’t many), it is illegal on the curb of any city street to drink beer from a bucket.

Our cross-town retarded brother we don’t talk about but won’t leave us alone, Kansas City came in just after us at #23 overall.

A selection of other cities and their scores:

#5 Las Vegas

#17 Portland

#26 Chicago

#41 Detroit

#46 Atlanta

#57 Salt Lake City

* See their criteria here.
