JC Corcoran Joins KTRS, Bumps Charles Jaco

After a year of being off the St. Louis airwaves, friend-of-the-site J.C. Corcoran, is returning to local radio. KTRS, in the midst of a major overhaul after losing the Cardinals, has hired Corcoran to fill the mid-day 10a-1p slot. John Brown‘s show the Mindset (which we were a guest on earlier this year) has been moved back to a 1p – 3p slot.

But what of Charles Jaco? KTVI reporter, writer of accusatory emails and current KTRS radio host? Toast!

In an interview with the Riverfront Times yesterday, Jaco says he was cool with getting the same fate as such well-loved shows as “That 80′s Show” and “The Chevy Chase Show”:

Tim Dorsey [KTRS president] told me it was nothing to do with the content or opinions expressed on the show. Honestly, he seemed more upset about it than me. My support from KTRS was always outstanding, especially the help I received from my producer Austin Volker and production assistant Craig Hogard. It was as amicable as termination as possible.

So there you have it. JC Corcoran gives a nod to Punching Kitty and lands the KTRS job, John Brown has us on his show and gets to stay around. Jaco tries to bully us and he’s on the street. Indisputable proof that you should really stay on our good side or bad things will happen like losing your radio show…and other weird and gross stuff:

RFT: Can you confirm the rumor we heard about you receiving soiled condoms in the mail at KTRS?

Jaco: It happened on three occasions. But, hey, as long as they weren’t thinking of me when they made the package, it doesn’t bother me.

I think Jaco’s selling himself short there. This right here is sex personified with a little mustache drawn on it:

How could you not have that photo at least cross your mind while you are filling a box of used condoms for delivery? …I mean…what? Excuse us. We’re going to go watch some NASCAR and WD40 something.

Five St. Louis Fights We Want To See Go Down

Posted by The Editor on 02 Mar 2010 /

1. Rams’ Steven Jackson vs Cardinals’ Albert Pujols

The two faces of their franchises and two nice guys, beating the hell out each other.  Should be awesome.

Winner? Pujols. Steven Jackson is great, but Pujols never loses.

2. KMOV’s Virginia Kerr vs KTVI’s April Simpson

There’s history here, which will make this a sellout for sure.  Some would see this and think this is some testosterone-fueled idea to see to chicks brawl and they’d be right, if they thought I wanted this to be in bikinis, which I don’t!  I want this fight in the fancy “you should trust me because I’m non-threatening” outfits. Yup, this will be one classy fight.

Also note that this one would have to be in jell-o.

Winner? Virginia Kerr in an upset! She just seems scrappy.

3. St. Louis Rams vs Mizzou Tigers

Sure the sane sports fan in us says “The Rams may be 1-15, but they are still professionals and will wax the floor with a college team.” …the other side of me says “Prove it.”

Winner? Rams. It’ll be closer than it should be though.

4. Charles Jaco vs Adam Sharp

…wait. This one already happened and it was really really really gay.  Not like “I can’t get married because rednecks are scared of me”, but just like…you know…gay.

Winner? No one…or both.  Ties are confusing, They are both lame.  Did that clear it up?

5. Axel Rose vs St. Louis

First there was this…and now its the rematch of the century!  No, no no: F*ck you Axel!

Winner? St. Louis. Axel promises he will come back with a huge awesome new group of people to kick our asses. But we’re betting he won’t or even he does it will be like totally weak, and no one will care.

Charles Jaco Might be Getting Sued, but He Definitely Can’t Find a Good Comeback

Posted by The Editor on 23 Feb 2010 /

We are hearing from our friends at STLMedia.net that Punching Kitty super-fan, as well as 550 talk show host and Fox2 reporter Charles Jaco might have some files charged against him.  No details other than that yet.

We do however have proof that Chuck ain’t one for the comebacks.  STLMedia via SharpElbows.net posted a recent video recorded by someone at a Tea Party rally trying to get a rise out of Jaco.

Jaco didn’t fare well.  Actually neither side did.

After being pushed by the uploader to say what the term “tea bagging” meant, Jaco just repeated “Well do you know what it is?”  Zing!  Jaco 1, other guy 0.  Then the video gets boring as the video guy and Jaco partake in a verbal slap fight, neither one of them coming out looking all that smart or witty.

Here’s the end result…

Jaco comes off looking mean, and frankly, very unbecoming of a reporter who is supposed to be objective while reporting the news.  None of this is a surprise mind you given our history with him.

The camera holder, doesn’t come off looking well either.  He comes off looking desperate in trying to bait Jaco and then overreacting when he was “bumped” by the Fox 2 reporter.  This may surprise you, especially Jaco, but if he is getting charges for the “bumping” in this video, then that’s a farce.  Jaco shouldn’t have done it, but we don’t agree with charges on something as stupid as that.

Wait.  What’s that?  Oh, I’m already bored with this story.

Check out the video on YouTube

[Editor's Note: Just to be clear, we have just found this video and are linking to it for news purposes.  We haven't met Charles Jaco or the other guy in the video, and all of the above are theories and jokes.  Also, its time for the Soul Train Line! We wish you love, peace and soul!]

We Got a Letter From Charles Jaco Last Night!

Remember this post from a while back?  We found a video on YouTube of a young, mustachioed Charles Jaco (Now of Fox2) on CNN.  The commentary bookending the video says that Jaco “faked” this news report and that it was all filmed in a studio.

Lets be clear: Those views, as we stated in the post, are of the video maker’s.  Not ours.  Frankly that was pretty clear.

From the post “Did Charles Jaco Fake a Desert Storm CNN Report?“:

Found on YouTube, this clip from a 1991 CNN broadcast, with added subtitles, claims that CNN and then reporter, now Fox 2 KTVI reporter and 550AM host, Charles Jaco faked a remote, leading people to believe that they were in some hostile area rather than a soundstage of sorts.

After watching the video, I have to lean towards agreeing this this guy, but really who knows, and more importantly, no one does or should care, but the video is pretty damn funny.

We agreed it looked kinda fake, but in the end we clearly state “who knows?”.  Nothing wrong there right?  Nope….well unless you are Charles Jaco, who thinks people reporting on thing they find and asking questions about things is wrong.  Did I mention Jaco is a Fox 2 news reporter?

Last night we received this from Mr. Jaco himself:

I have just now come across a false and defamatory posting on your website from July 28, 2009 titled “Did Charles Jaco Fake a Desert Storm CNN Report”. I’m adding your email and your website to the list being sent to my attorneys.
———————

Some of you have written me expressing concern (or as one friend put it “WTF?”) about a video making the rounds purporting to show that our Gulf War coverage for CNN in 1991 was done in a studio, not in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Kuwait. This email should fill you in as to what’s going on.

Others have written me to accuse me of engaging in false news coverage, and a cover-up of the truth. Many of those same people have forwarded those false and defamatory emails to others, and have linked to a website purporting to show the false coverage. This email serves as notice of legal action.

First the facts of the case: our coverage was on the roof of a hotel and military facility near the intersection of the two main runways at the Dhahran Air Base, Western Province, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The playwood background was erected as a guard against sand and wind storms. The clowning around on the video is just that. We used black humor to deflect the tension of covering SCUD missile assaults.

Now to the impending action: my attorneys intend to act immediately against those of you receiving this who have sent and forwarded these emails accusing me of falsifying coverage. We are in the process of issuing subpeonas to ISPs for the real names and addresses of the senders. We shall then proceed with lawsuits against those parties.

In addition, letters are being sent to LiveLink and Google (owner of YouTube) and their attorneys demanding the videos be removed.

Charles Jaco

To which we replied:

Mr. Jaco,

Maybe you didn’t actually read the post about you on Punching Kitty.com and instead just spammed every google result for your name, but we, at no times, made any claims to the validity of the video. In fact the whole post is a question as to whether the video you are referring to is legitimate.

Because of those reasons, I will not be taking down the post in question. As a reporter yourself, I would have thought that you would know that there is nothing illegal or wrong with asking questions.

As for the video in question, that is between you and the poster on YouTube and has nothing to do with this site.

I will not be bullied with emails like this, however, if you would like to post a reply or talk about this subject further than what is in your initial email, I would love to include that on my site.

I will be posting this entire exchange on my site.

Mike Flynn
Editor of Punching Kitty.com

I had pretty much no opinion of Charles Jaco up until last night at around 10p, but this really did shock me.  Could a reporter really think we did something wrong?!  Hell, even the title of our post was a question…far from the harsh accusation that Mr. Jaco believes happened.

As far as the video, if Mr. Jaco wants to contact Google/YouTube about the video, thats between him, Google and the video publisher.  According to documents on EFF.org about the legality of embedding YouTube videos, I am under no obligation to remove the video from my site until the intellectual property holder gets in contact with me, which in the case of the CNN clips in the video is Time-Warner, not Charles Jaco.

We hope that is was a misunderstanding, that upon further review Mr. Jaco will realize that we did nothing wrong in asking the question and in fact posting his email did allow him to put his side of the story out there.  We would have loved it if he would have just sent us an email telling his side without threats, which we would have happily posted here as well.  Instead he tried to bully a website he thought would bend to his will, into removing simple, innocent questions.

Remember that next time you see him “reporting” on Fox 2.

Did Charles Jaco Fake a Desert Storm CNN Report?

After watching the video, I have to lean towards agreeing this this guy, but really who knows, and more importantly, no one does or should care, but the video is pretty damn funny.  This isn’t just some Daily Show-esque “remote,” they have props (a gas mask and helmet from the set of MASH make an appearance), Jaco is rocking a pretty awesome, yet understated mustache, and there is a montage at the end of behind the scenes-type clips that the author uses as further evidence.

We also get this “warning” at the end for us sheeple to wake up!  We’ll pass on your warning there Neo, but thanks for the funny video.

Watch the clip after the jump, and let us know what you think!  Does this kinda thing actually bother you?
