KSDK’s Ann Rubin Isn’t Fazed By Traffic Accidents

Ann Rubin of KSDK lost her shiz just a little bit last night on the news when a fender bender happened behind her, just off camera. She made a little gasp, finished her sentence and then explained the situation before throwing it back to Kay Quinn who didn’t even ask if everyone was alright…what the hell Kay?! Everyone died. Are you happy now you didn’t wasted the time to ask? Feel good about yourself?!

…ok, they didn’t die…or maybe they did…we don’t know. It didn’t happen to us, and as such, it might have well have happened on the moon or in Chesterfield. Two places we never seem to make it to, but we’re pretty sure both have a Chick Fil A. We don’t care, but we feel like Kay Quinn should. Hell if Kay was there and gave a damn, she might have been able to use her jaw to chisel away the door to get the people out.

Arch Worker Pinned Between Arch Tram and a Hard Place Yesterday

An employee of the St. Louis Arch was pinned for 30 seconds between the south leg tram and the top of the shaft while working on electrical upgrades yesterday. I bet that hurt. One time we stubbed our town on the south leg of our coffee table and it hurt like hell. Like really hurt and still hurt the next day, probably just like this guy’s injury. The good news for him is that after two days we were fine and we got to limp around at work and make people ask us what happened. Yea! People talked to us!

Frank Mares, deputy park superintendent, said [John Leslie, 55, of Robertsville] was doing electrical upgrades to the south tram system when he was pinned at the top. Mares said Leslie was standing atop a platform mounted on the front tram car while the tram climbed and failed to stop. Mares said the tram was being controlled by a person at a work platform below, but he said it’s unclear whether the accident was the result of mechanical or human error. Mares said Leslie was in radio contact with the person at the platform below.

Leslie (Which is a girl’s name! LOL!) is said to be fine and his injuries were not life threatening. In fact, one visitor to the Arch, who should really think about getting a job instead of visiting monuments during the work day, said they say him walking with assistance from one tram to the other right after being freed.

The Arch is currently undergoing a $3 Million dollar upgrade specifically to the tram system. Wouldn’t it be totally ironic if the new Don’t Smash Employees with the Tram Sensor 3000 was going to be installed tomorrow?

Car Crashes in to Downtown Hooters

Details are slim as of this writing, but just after 9 pm a car crashed in to the Hoosters in downtown St. Louis starting a fire. Somehow no one was injured and the people in car have been arrested. No suprise there. Smashing something that hard in to Hooters ususal does end up getting you arrested…at the very least slapped.

That’s gotta be the first time anything “flaming” crashed a party at Hooters!

We hear the car was initially headed down south, but got distracted by the Hooters and ended up just busting it right there. Damn shame. We hear that can happen to guys occasionally.

The only way this accident could be more funny is if somehow a motorboat crashed through the Hooters instead.

A Guy Died During a Parking Lot Crash on Hampton

Update: A relative of the deceased (and future fan club member) in the comments, tells us that the family learned today that the man in the accident was shot, which makes this whole thing make a lot more sense. Thats’s the STL we know!

Original article:

You don’t hear this much. Usually it’s all fender-benders, door dings or pre-teens car jacking old people, rather than fatal, single-car accidents going down in parking lots. Oh St. Louis, you always know just how to surprise us with a weekend fatality!

The accident happend around 6:50 a.m. on Sunday morning in the 1400 block of Hampton.  Authorities said 35-year-old Phillip Galczynski Jr. from Herculaneum, Missouri was driving his Chevy S-10 pick-up truck when he crashed into a retaining wall in the rear of a parking lot.

Jesus! Was he really cruising the parking lot that fast, or is this guy Humpty Dumpty?

The police have an “accident reconstruction” team on the scene working to figure out what happened, but claim it will take 12 to 16 weeks to get the final results. That’s way too long. If they aren’t done by the time we go get up to go pee and get a drink then we don’t care anymore. Blame CSI.

I-70 Accident Triggers Twitter’s Shark Jumping Event

Yesterday at the downtown lanes of I-70 a tractor-trailer, a flat bed truck carrying concrete sewer linings and three other cars came together is in the eastbound lanes. The cause was later found to be a driver that stopped in the road to pick up road dibris, causing a slowdown and then the pileup which left the highway closed until about 2pm.

Because of its downtown location, the accident could be seen from many office buildings including that of Jason Wagner, Twitter user @threefourteen. An accident? To the Social Media Mobile!

Tweeting out a call for help and begging for “rt” or retweets, and succeeding? This seem odd to anyone else? …Ok, I guess he couldn’t get word out any other way so…wait…

We had to ask! We get it, 2010, Twitter, the ShaveMate, we live in the future, but he probably tweeted this on his phone and isn’t 911 still the move here? Seriously, this isn’t weird to anyone else? …maybe it was on his computer and not a phone capable of dialing 911…

Hmm. No it’s not wrong, but we are struggling with the desired response. Was someone to go “Oh no someone needs be at this tweet’s location! …better just reply back first.”?

Oh wait. Someone did:

Though she didn’t get to the scene in time, and in fact hasn’t made it yet, Dr. Quinn came up huge today when called upon by the “I do everything over Twitter even if it’s silly” crowd.

We feel safer knowing the world, and long cancelled tv doctors, are looking out for us. Now if you’ll excuse us, we need to go Facebook ourselves a dermatologist appointment. We were Google Buzzing over the weekend and Bebo‘ed this chick with our Stickam in her DailyBooth while she Yelp‘ed and Flickr‘ed our Ning and now we have this rash in MySpace that won’t go away.
