Whatever the reasoning, if you want to give it a go yourself, baseball poker basically takes the best parts of the game baseball and incorporates them into a card game. Things to remember:
Dealing
Baseball poker tends to be dealt like a game of seven-card stud, so players are dealt three cards each, the first two face down, and the third face up. The next three cards are dealt face up, and finally the seventh card remains down.
Wilds
You’ll know that in a game of baseball there are three outs. In a baseball poker game, threes are wild, when dealt facing upwards or downwards. You’ll also find that nines represent the number of innings in a regular game of baseball.
Variations
There are several variations to the game. For example sometimes multiple wilds count as strikes. If you get three wilds it’s a strikeout and the player is out of the game. In night baseball poker is played with all of the cards face down. If you’re placing bets, there are a total of five betting rounds in baseball poker.
Extra cards
If you’re dealt a four facing up, the player is given an extra card face down. They can receive a maximum of four extra cards, and they represent the number of bases on a baseball field. The extra card represents stealing a base.
